Patrick Dole is a professional craftsman and systems engineer living in Belfast, Maine. He learned carpentry and mechanical skills at a young age from his father and grandfather. Working from a young at in his family’s bicycle shop helped form not only his work ethic but also his knack for fixing things. Following graduating highschool he got his first paid shipwright work on board the tall ship Harvey Gamage. Being part of a crew replanking and reframing the 131’ schooner solidified his love for the craft and fueled his passion for boatbuilding. After attending The Landing School in Kennebunkport, ME he went to work for Rockport Marine building the 65’ Replica vessel Godspeed and a 112’ cold molded schooner named Spirit of Bermuda. He was then hired by French and Webb of Belfast Maine to be part of a crew restoring three Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 30’s where he met John O’donovan. The two founded O’Donovan and Dole in 2008 and restored, refit and built new boats from 14’ peapods to a 64’ motorsailer. After 8 years the partnership dissolved and Patrick founded P A Dole Co to continue his passion for the craft and branch out beyond strictly marine work. In addition to being a shipwright, he’s skilled in timber framing, refrigeration, hydraulics, electrical, diesel systems and enjoys custom projects that bring many elements together, the more dynamic the better.
